During
\nthis year’s Long Night of Museums on 15 October<\/b>, the EPO is to offer a
\nspecial children’s programme, guided tours of its art collection and the premiere
\nof a short film about the collection’s inspiring light art. An EPO expert will
\nalso reveal how many patented technologies power a Lamborghini. The full programme
\ntakes place in our Hackerbr\u00fccke building, which is open to the public for the
\nfirst time.\n<\/p>\n
\nOur
\nprogramme aims to show how the EPO art collection engages with current issues
\nin the natural sciences, technology, environment and innovation. Most of the
\nart collected over the past four decades reflects the creativity that lies at
\nthe heart of all technological innovation. Highlights include works by Tom\u00e1s
\nSaraceno and Superflux, Tue Greenfort and Lilly Lulay, several of which are new
\nacquisitions on display for the first time.\n<\/p>\n
\nBudding
\ncreatives aged 6 to 14 can craft their own artworks at our Children’s Art Lab
\nfrom 14:00 hrs. The lab will provide a fun voyage of discovery through the
\nworld of contemporary art, including encounters with the sometimes surprising materials
\nand artefacts that artists have used to turn their ideas into reality.\n<\/p>\n
\nIn
\nthe evening, art experts offer an introduction to selected artworks from the
\nEPO art collection by several of today’s leading contemporary artists. There
\nwill also be a premier of a German film with English subtitles, viewable any
\ntime from 18:00 hrs onwards, in which the collection’s curator Dr\u00a0Kristine
\nSch\u00f6nert explores the interface between technology and art as seen in some of
\nthe EPO’s striking works of light art.\n<\/p>\n
\nOnce again, the EPO is a main sponsor of this major event in
\nthe city’s cultural calendar, with some 90 sites of art, culture, science and
\ntechnology participating. Live music, special tours and interactive happenings await
\nyou all over the city, along with theatre performances, film screenings and
\nlectures.\n<\/p>\n
